[03.Dec.21~21.Dec.21] #2-1. Arrival in KOR

When we landed, there were so many things we were unsure of.

What will happened in the course of the next 1 hour will determined our plan for the next 10 days.

 Since we were coming from Indonesia, we took the normal process which divided simply as follows:

1. Before immgiration: (Document Checking)

2. Immigration

3. After Immigration

 

1. Before immigration; Document checking re: Covid-19

1) Form filling

-. At first, we should fill two kinds of forms while queueing. 

1. Traveler Declaration Form (mandatory in normal time as well)

2. Health Questionnaire (Covid-19 related form)

2) Documents Requirements

-. There are a lot of mandatory documents required for entering South Korea

 

1. Quarantine Exemption

: Pre Omicron, foreigners who got married with Korean can apply for quarantine exemption

  if the purpose of travel is to visit parents

However, on 3.Dec.2021, Korean government announced the withdrawal of quarantine exception for everyone equally. 

 

2. PCR test Result

: We got our PCR test Result 2 days before departure.

Every country has their own rules regarding COVID-19, and it may change at any time.

We strongly advised people to often check and recheck the local governments rules & regulations before going abroad.

One thing that confuses us most is that some countries require PCR test result minimum 72 hours before departure and yet some other countries require samples of PCR test taken minimum 72 hours before departure.

 

3. Contact's Number

: Designated government officer would call  & check on you on your contact number given in the documents. If you have a local Korean phone number, there will be no issue.

  However, If you dont have a local Korean phone number (or your phone number is not activated), they would request your guarantor's phone number as a proof of your stay.

: To report our temperature and health condition.

 

3) Document Checking (Step 1 & 2)

-. Passengers are divided by nationality.

   However, since the airport was vacant, staffs let us (family / husband & wife) went thru the gate

   together.

-. Airport staffs assited us to prepare the required documents, as well as

   to download the mandatory application.

 

1. Step 1

-. Airport staffs checked our contact number, VISA, and passport.

-. Airport staffs informed us on how to report our temperature / health condition via apps.

   They also let us know that a government officer will verify our report via call several times a day. 

-. Based on the assessment, Airport staffs decided whether passengers from overseas it to be

   quarantined at government facility or self quarantined at home.

 

2. Step 2

-. Airport staffs decided that we were permitted to undergo self quarantine at home.

-. Aiport staffs make some copies of our documents and, in return, handed out several quarantine-related documents.

 

[Attention!!]

How do we know if we should be quarantined at Government Facility or at home?

--> We strongly advised people to often check and recheck the governments rules & regulations before going abroad, since the rules are rapidly changing. 

 

* On 4-Dec 2021, foreigners married to Korean are permitted to be self-quarantined at home.

* Starting 10-Dec 2021, all foreigners have to be quarantined at Government Facility (no exception). 

 

2. Immigration

After checking documents,

immigration is not spcial but we took around 30~40min before immigration.
